Welcome to Meatsmith Co-op

Meatsmith Co-op is a newly formed organization serving Lafayette, Green, Iowa, Dane, Grant, and Rock Counties which aims to serve both farmers, butchers, and consumers, providing a close and transparent connection through the processing of whole carcass beef, pork, lamb, and goats.

We are in the process of locating a building to become a nose-to-tail meat processing facility with future plans to operate a state-inspected mobile slaughter unit (MSU) to harvest animals exclusively on local farms. As a co-op, our goal is to provide services that make it easier to link farmers and consumers and keep our community thriving and connected.

After many years and much research, it is evident that access to timely and affordable meat harvest and processing is a real need in our community. Please consider helping us reach our goal of $20,000 to make this happen. This money will go toward renovation, equipment and start-up costs to pay employees.

Livestock Producer Membership is Now Available!

We are inviting small- and medium-scale producers of cattle, hogs, sheep and goats in southern Wisconsin to sign up to become members for a one-time fee of $500. When you become a member, you become an owner of the cooperative, giving you access to preferential scheduling, lower processing fees and profit sharing, as well as a voice in developing cooperative policies and choosing its leadership.
